The following Prayer and Praise reports were received from EHC’s national field workers in each nation. Enjoy these firsthand reports from around the globe! May God bless you as you intercede for them in prayer.
NEPAL
Praise:
A man named Deepak Kausal, suffering with epilepsy for the last 12 years, in Syangja, western Nepal, received the gospel message from EHC's evangelism team, led by Chetra Baramu. On September 13 he heard the Gospel and accepted Jesus into his life. Not only has he become a believer in Christ, but he has been healed of his epilepsy. He is now attending the Vulvulay fellowship.
Nepal Every Home Concern’s (NEHC's) literature production for 2008 resulted in the printing of 1,100,000 gospel tracts. The printers did their job in a timely manner, so the storehouse is full of printed gospel materials. Churches and mission groups are distributing the message along with the NEHC staff in the field.
Tara Shrestha, one of NEHC's local church leaders near the Nepal-Tibet border, has established a rehabilitation center where three elderly widows have been admitted. Though Shrestha finds it a challenge to maintain his own family’s basic needs and there are many physical needs in his church, he has opened his home to help widows and the helpless. He has been instrumental in discipleship for this region.
Prayer:
Lately Christian leaders have become victims of extreme Hindu fundamentalists and gangs that are demanding huge amounts of money from them. If no money is received, they threaten to kidnap their kids and harm them physically. It has created fear in all of us. Pray for God’s Almighty Hand to protect us all.
Because of the increasing incidents of assault, kidnapping, extortion across the country, and due to the damage that took place in Koshi Dam in eastern Nepal, NEHC's proposed mini-silver jubilee celebration scheduled for December 1-3 has been postponed until 2009. Similarly three seminars that were to be held in October and November have been postponed. Pray for conditions in the country to improve so that we can reschedule these events and begin conducting business as usual.
Seven Christ Groups in seven different districts in the west badly need tin roof tops for their centers as well as the finances to extend their present facilities. Donations could help them build a center where 100 could be accommodated for a weekly worship service and would allow them to hold many other Christian activities as well.
BENIN
Pray that God would grant greater effectiveness and
passion to the EHC staff. Also pray that pioneer
missionaries will coordinate the Christ Group
activities efficiently and that those Christ Groups
would continually reproduce new Christ Groups.
Pray that God will powerfully bless the use of the
gospel tracts “Miroir de Dieu” (Mirror of God) that
have just been printed and that they will reach
every home, resulting in lasting fruit.
Pray for God’s provision of suitable places for the
Christ Groups to meet and worship.
Pray for EHC activities in Ouidah—a central domain
of various voodoo strongholds. Pray that God will
open doors to pioneer missionary Marcel Adjassoho
who is working there.
Pray that we would receive the resources necessary
to build a Strategic Missions Center in the city of
Ouidah.
Pray for God to work mightily through the
outreaches. In Benin doors are often closed to the
Gospel from August to October because of voodoo
ceremonies and the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. Please
pray for strength for our Christ Groups so they will
have the boldness to knock on doors—especially
during these “religious” months.
Pray that the Mighty Hand of God would move in Oueme
where the enemies of the Gospel are openly attacking
EHC activities spiritually, verbally and physically.
Pray for pioneer missionary Amen Dossou who is
working on this area.
Praise God for His grace in allowing workers to lead
222 souls out of darkness into the Light as they
visited 5,865 families during the month of August.
We thank the Lord for the 23 Christ Groups formed.
We are grateful for the positive impact of the
discipleship materials used by our pioneer
missionaries.
Praise God for His hands on our pioneer missionaries
and their families throughout Benin. We thank God
for protecting and delivering one EHC pioneer
missionary, Pascal, twice from voodoo attacks.
TOGO
Pioneer missionary Joseph Mensah asks for prayer for
the pastors of the Christ Groups in Amou-Danyi —
that the Lord will give them zeal for effective
multiplication for God’s glory.
All our pioneer missionaries are mobilizing the
existing local churches from different denominations
in their respective areas for outreach campaigns.
Pray that there will be great cooperation and
diligence as they work together using the EHC
methods and strategies for outreach.
Pioneer missionary Koffi Saka is working in
Haho-Moyen Mono. He requests prayer for the healing
of a new convert Kossi Gomado who has been suffering
from heart ailments for the past 11 years.
Praise God for the impact of the Deeper Life Church
of Gobé as its members were enabled by God to plant
a new church in the village of Ona in the district
of Wawa.
Praise God for the spiritual growth of the Christ
Group of Kpawa-Lassa.
Praise God for the house-to-house outreach of the
Christ Group in Benali. They registered 51 new
converts this past month.
Pioneer missionary Koffi Kpelemoua gives praise to
God for working in the lives of the Christ Group of
Komah among the Muslim peoples. This Christ Group is
growing, with 31 members, and they have started
Sunday services.
Praise God for the salvation of four young gang
members in Tekpo who came to Christ through the
ministry of EHC worker You Husru. May they grow in
the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ.
SENEGAL
The EHC Senegal team is ready to reach the 1.87
million people in the strategic region of
Fatick-Kaolack. All our pioneer missionaries went to
their respective regions in September. Pray for
these missionary soldiers to be faithful to the EHC
objective for abundant harvest and the planting of
Christ Groups.
Pray for pioneer missionary Jean Pierre Mendy
working in Fatick-Gossas, bringing the Gospel to its
446,000 Muslim inhabitants. Brother Mendy is married
and has three children. His family will join him on
the field soon.
Pray for David Keita working in Kaolack; Ndiougour
Gueye Ngor in Foundiougne; Mbaye Ndour in Kaffrine.
Islam and animistic worship are extensive in these
regions of the country.
House-to-house evangelism is going on in the capital
city of Dakar in the areas of Golf and Grand Yoff.
Ears and hearts are open to the Gospel, but the
decision to confess the Lord is difficult.
We praise the Lord for activities during August
2008. The search for workers was accelerated, which
culminated with a gathering of four new pioneer
missionaries for EHC campaigns in Senegal.
We glorify the Lord for Brother David Keita, a
candidate who has finished his training as a leader.
David was an evangelist in his home country of Mali.
He decided to come to Senegal to serve the Lord.
