Church growth in Mongolia has witnessed dramatic change since Every Home for Christ launched a nationwide campaign in 1997. At the time it was estimated that there were possibly 2,000 Christians living in Mongolia. The vast majority of her people followed centuries-old tribal beliefs—Buddhism, Islam, or hopeless atheism.
Christmas 2007 brought the story of EHC’s gospel advance in Mongolia to light in a dramatic way. In fact, EHC Director Baasandorj Algaa called it “a Christmas miracle.”
EHC put out the call for local churches to help distribute 100,000 gospel booklets home to home. Believers in 156 congregations joined the campaign. Many of those who stepped forward to help had been won to Christ through EHC outreaches; many were also members of 50 Christ Group fellowships that EHC had planted across the nation.
By the time the Christmas campaign was completed, 33,924 people had responded to the Gospel, with 11,822 confirming that they had accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. Imagine 11,822 new believers in a nation that was home to only 2,000 Christians just ten years ago! EHC has now recorded 84,974 responses to the Gospel in Mongolia.
Home-to-home literature distributions, responses, salvation testimonies and Christ Group formations have surged into an unstoppable wave of church growth in Mongolia. Pray that the wave will continue, drawing thousands more into God’s kingdom.
